Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a Member of MMC Group commenced operation in 1977 as the Southern Gateway Multi-Purpose Port in Malaysia and is also the first port in Malaysia to be accorded with Free Zone status. Located at the southern tip of Peninsula Malaysia, Johor Port is strategically positioned at the heart of the sprawling 8,000 acres Pasir Gudang Industrial Estate and just across the Causeway from Singapore.


Johor Port operates a total area of 1,000 acres, 660 acres of which are designated as Free Zone. With 24 berths and a total berthing length of 4.75 km, the services and facilities within Johor Port include the Break Bulk Terminal, Dry Bulk Terminal, Liquid Terminal, Container Terminal, Container Storage Yard, Inland Container Depot and Warehousing Facilities. In addition, Johor Port is the appointed Free Zone Authority for the management of its Free Zone area.

 

Johor Port is the largest palm oil terminal in the world and was designated as an approved London Metal Exchange (LME) location in 2004. As one of the largest in the region for the hubbing of Non-Ferrous Metals for clients such as Pacorini, Henry Bath B.V. and Metro International, Johor Port is currently ranked No. 6 out of 35 in the world for LME Cargo. Johor Port is also one of the largest discharging point for rice and cocoa in Malaysia as well as being one of the biggest terminal in Malaysia for fertilizer and cement.  Multi-national clients at the Port include companies such as Shell, Chevron, Holcim/LaFarge, BASF and FJB.



JOHOR PORT CONTAINER TERMINAL

The Johor Port Container Terminal (JCT) hosts a total of 700m berthing length which is designed to handle up to 1.2 million TEUs annually.


Equipped with 8 Quay Cranes, 19 RTGs, 9 Stackers and 50 Prime Movers, the Container Terminal is able to accommodate up to 3 vessels at any one time with maximum depth of 13.5m.  


The Container Terminal is also equipped with a 250,000 m² of container yard and 11,000 m² CFS facilities and supported by a web-based Johor Port Container Terminal System (JCTS) which is able to facilitate real-time, integrated, paperless transactions for optimal commercial and operational efficiency.


In addition, the Container Terminal also has its own dedicated rail depot with scheduled rail services to PTP and as well as being linked to the national rail grid and onward to neighbouring countries.


The Johor Port Container Terminal currently serves various international main line operators including Pacific International Line, Wan Hai Lines, Evergreen Marine Corporation, CTP Line, K Line Maritime, TS Line and MSC Shipping Corporation.


Connectivity to and from Johor Port is further supported by both coastal and international feeder operations running daily through the Johor Port Container Terminal with the presence of main coastal operators such as PDZ, Geniki Line, Selatan and Shin Yang Shipping as well as international feeders such as Advance Container Line (ACL), PACC Container Line, RCL, Pancon Shipping & Marine etc.


BULK AND BREAK BULK TERMINAL

Johor Port Bulk and Break Bulk Terminal (BBT) currently operate 8 berths with maximum depth of 13.5m. The Bulk and Break Bulk Terminal currently offers around 73,364 sqm of open yard area and over 230,000m² of storage facility.


The Bulk and Break Bulk Terminal has the facilities to handle various cargoes of any type and size, including both edible and non-edible dry bulk, break bulk, general cargo, project cargo, heavy lift and gas-related cargoes. Equipped with 7 Shore Cranes, 23 forklifts, 3 conveyor belt and rail-mounted quay cranes, the Bulk and Break Bulk Terminal’s operation is supported by an on-line Multi-Purpose Terminal System (MPTS).


LIQUID BULK TERMINAL

Johor Port Liquid Bulk Terminal provides specialised facilities to cater for both edible liquid and petrochemicals cargoes and is equipped with a network of pipelines with multiple high capacity loading arms to allow the liquid bulk cargo to be piped directly to tank farms at high transfer rates.

Johor Port is also the largest Edible Liquid Terminal in the world with terminal tank farm capacity of almost 500,000 cubic metres.  



WAREHOUSING FACILITIES

Johor Port provides more than 2,000,000 sq ft of warehousing space and approximately 600,000 sq ft open yard allocated for LME cargo and Break Bulk cargo.

In addition there is also more than 300,000 sq ft of warehousing space for value-added and distribution activities and more than 250,000 sq ft of warehousing space for grain storage.


JOHOR PORT FREE ZONE

Johor Port is appointed as the Free Zone Authority and directly manages its own Free Zone. The Johor Port Free Zone area covers about two-thirds of the port area, providing ample space for companies wishing to engage in industrial and commercial activities within a Free Zone environment.


OFFSHORE INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS (OIMR) CENTRE

The OIMR Centre offers a comprehensive scope of services and facilities to the Oil & Gas industries ranging from lay-up facilities, manpower mobilization, maintenance and repair works as well as providing an integrated suite of logistics solutions via its One Stop Centre.


SUBSIDIARIES

JP Logistics Sdn Bhd provides total logistics solutions and supply chain management. Established in 1996 as a 100% wholly own subsidiary of Johor Port Berhad, JP Logistics is primarily involved in Freight Management, Warehousing & Distribution, Shipping & Marine Services and Specialized Logistics including Project Cargo Logistics.

JP Logistics currently manages around 310,000m² of warehouse space and has a comprehensive road transport services with 120 fleets comprising of haulage and conventional trucks.


Cranetech Sdn Bhd is a Port Equipment Supplier and Equipment Refurbishment & Upgrading Provider and is a preferred services partner in providing engineering solutions for port related equipment.


KOTUG Asia Sdn Bhd is a leader in providing innovative and economic Maritime Towage with its vast range of rotor tugs, e-rotor tugs and conventional tugs.


Seaport Worldwide Sdn Bhd is the master developer of the Tanjung Bin Petrochemical and Maritime Centre which is located adjacent to the Port of Tanjung Pelepas with 45 minutes diversion time from the international lanes. With a total development area of 2,255 acres, the main activities at the Tanjung Bin Petrochemical and Maritime Centre include tank storage for petroleum and petrochemical products.
