Dato’ Haji Mohd Zain Hassan helms the country’s largest solid waste management company, Alam Flora Sdn Bhd and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Alam Flora Environmental Solutions Sdn Bhd. Alam Flora is one of the three concessionaires appointed by the government, under the full privatisation of the solid waste management of the country.
Alam Flora is one of the leading environmental management companies in Malaysia that manages the Central region and is dedicated to serving communities in managing and reducing waste with minimal environmental impact and championing the nation’s recycling agenda.
With over 20 years of hands-on experience serving various positions in Alam Flora, from field operations to top management, he currently leads a strong waste management team of more than 9,000 workers that are responsible for the cleansing and collection of solid waste in its concession areas being, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Pahang Darul Makmur. It manages around 3,500 tonnes of solid waste a day.
Based on his vast experience in the management and operational aspect of solid waste, he was also instrumental in Alam Flora’s previous venture into the Middle East, Kingdom of Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, UAE where together with his team, they managed to set up a well- structured solid waste management company for the kingdom that still in operational today.
Prior to Alam Flora, he was also the Deputy General Manager at E-Idaman Sdn Bhd, one of the three concessionaires other than Alam Flora, that was commissioned by the government to manage the solid waste in the Northern region of the Peninsular.
