The first project undertaken and completed by MMC Gamuda was the construction of the Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (“SMART”) which made history as the world’s first dual-purpose tunnel and began operation in 2007.

This was followed by the successful completion of the Electrified Double Track Project (“EDTP”) in 2014 and concurrently, MMC Gamuda was appointed as project integrator for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (“KVMRT”) Project. Launched in 2011, the project was envisaged to radically transform and improve Kuala Lumpur’s public transportation infrastructure and thus help ease congestion.

Given the magnitude and complexity of this infrastructure project, MMC Gamuda has brought together a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate, oversee and manage the complex work processes of the civil, system and station components, focusing them all towards the common goal of delivering a world-class rail system to the nation.
