Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport) has set a new record for its conventional cargo business segment after surpassing 10,000,000 Freight Weight Tonnes (FWTs) of cargo throughput, the highest achievement of cargo handling in a single year since the formation of Northport through the merger of Klang Container Terminal and Klang Port Management in 2000.

SPT Services Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Johor Port Berhad, received the maiden call for the export of sulphur products at the Solid Product Jetty (SPJ) Terminal at Pengerang Integrated Complex. HOSEI 68 safely berthed at SPJ with a capacity of 11,000 metric tons of sulphur. SPJ is a tailor-made facility to manage the volume produced by the Pengerang Integrated Complex as well as to ensure the timely export of oil and gas industry products such as a polymer (containerised) and sulphur to the market.

His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj gracefully consented to officiate the launch of Port Klang Cruise Terminal (PKCT), a joint venture cruise terminal in Port Klang owned by Klang Port Management Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Northport (Malaysia) Bhd and Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
PKCT is one of the few cruise terminals in the region capable of handling large modern cruise and navy vessels comfortably, with a reputation for efficient port services and convenient facilities and amenities for both cruise passengers and crew.

Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob launched the Pulau Bunting Integrated Development of Gas Supply Centre and Power Plant in Yan, Kedah as part of an investment worth RM14.4 billion in that state by MMC Group. This is a testament to MMC Group’s capabilities and expertise in developing economic projects that will not only benefit the people of Yan and Kedah but Malaysia as a whole.

Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), created a new milestone by becoming the first container terminal in Malaysia to surpass 1 million TEUs a month. This has further strengthened PTP’s position as one of the top 15 global ports. This achievement is the result of outstanding dedication and commitment from all PTP workforce in setting up the right and sustainable business conditions especially in applying advanced technological strategy in its day-to-day operation and focusing on delivering integrated customer services to all stakeholders.

Gas Malaysia Energy and Services Sdn Bhd (GMES), a wholly owned subsidiary of Gas Malaysia Berhad secured its 1,000th industrial customer, Wilmar Palm Products Sdn Bhd (Wilmar).
Wilmar has been one of GMES’ loyal partners as the company has supplied gas to them since 1998. Natural gas was initially supplied to PGEO Edible Oils Sdn Bhd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Wilmar International Limited) and now 24 years later, Wilmar Palm Products is the 12th plant to be supplied with natural gas. This is an important milestone for GMES, a testament to the continuous effort in ensuring excellent service delivery; more so as the company is operating under a liberalised market since 1st January 2022.

Penang Port Sdn Bhd, welcomed back the international cruise after a long hiatus at Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT). The Spectrum of the Seas, operated by Royal Caribbean Cruise Ltd is the first international cruise to reconnect holidaymakers with the Pearl of the Orient. A total of 2,991 passengers were greeted with warm Malaysian hospitality, cultural performance and vibrant trishaws to bring them around Georgetown. All the passengers were also able to experience the upgraded SPCT which is about 30% bigger and will be able to handle 50% more passengers.

Johor Port Berhad, launched its first Professional Master in Port Management together with UTMSPACE. The contemporary Course Modules are developed by JP Skills Centre, the Training Division of Johor Port, covering more than 20 knowledge areas of studies and skills required to run a modern port efficiently in order to be the key linkage in the global production and supply chains.
As the first pioneer programme introduced in Malaysia, the Professional Master in Port Management is designed to enhance the fundamentals and operational knowledge of port professionals not only in Malaysia, but also overseas.

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), enhanced its business synergy with SITC Container Lines Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SITC) following the opening of SITC’s new depot facility in Port Klang, Selangor. The new depot facility offers services for container storage, equipment maintenance and other related services to the depot users. Its strategic location within the matured industrial area and adjacent to the Northport terminal will further boost SITC’s volumes with Northport.

Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), welcomed a maiden voyage from MSC Washington, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC)’s first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)-powered dual fuel 14K TEUs Ultra Large Container Vessel (ULCV). MSC Washington is the first LNG-fuelled containership chartered by Mediterranean Shipping Company. The vessel is 335 metres in length and 51 metres wide and has a design draft of 17 metres with a nominal carrying capacity of 14,428 TEUs.

Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport), received the first international flight from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in conjunction with Malaysia’s international borders reopening. A welcoming ceremony by Senai International Airport, Tourism Johor, Tourism Malaysia and Legoland was held at Gate 1 to welcome 58 passengers who were presented with goodiebags prior to immigration clearance.

Malaysia’s logistics industry pioneer, Kontena Nasional Berhad (Kontena Nasional) acquired 30 units of Volvo FM440 6x2 T RAS prime movers from Volvo Trucks Malaysia. The newly acquired prime movers are part of Kontena Nasional’s business expansion plan toward achieving logistics excellence and delivering quality services to its customers. It will also support their readiness for new and bigger market outreach.

The exchange of SCA documents between Northport’s Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof and Sea Hawk’s Director, Mani Krishnan was witnessed by the Raja Muda of Selangor.

Aliran Ihsan Resources Berhad, took over the operation and maintenance for PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Water (PRPC Water) of the Raw Water Supply Project for RAPID, Pengerang or better known as PAMER for a five-year contract agreement. The plant, which is located at Kota Tinggi, Johor has a pumping capacity of 260 million litres of raw water per day supplied to Pengerang Integrated Complex.
